Discuter de The Man with the Iron Heart

Item: HHhH

Language: fr

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: Hi,

I would like to have your opinion if this is considered as a French movie or not?
The poster I uploaded in the French section has been moved to English.

This is a mostly French production, with a French director adapted from a French book.

Thanks

I moved it back to French. That makes the most sense to me as well.

It is such a weird situation, though. I'm not sure if the US distributor still plans to released it as "The Man with the Iron Heart." As far as I can tell, there is no EN trailer or poster.

(But, as you know, we really need to make a final decision about the original language field and incidentally the language setting of posters such as this one. baby_chick )

Incorrect Content Translated Title (English) should be "The Man with the Iron Heart"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Man_with_the_Iron_Heart_(film) https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_man_with_the_iron_heart_2017/ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3296908/releaseinfo?ref_=tt_ov_inf

"USA The Man with the Iron Heart World-wide (English title) The Man with the Iron Heart"

what's the source besides IMDb? (or wikipedia/rottentomatoes for that matter)

For what it worth, FilmNation is listed as the International distributor. They list it as "The Man with the Iron Heart": http://www.filmnation.com/the-man-with-the-iron-heart/

I can't find any Official English source, so just look at the EN poster + any English source e.g. IMDB

We do not allow English on English translations, but I think it should be the original title. The movie will (finally!) be released in the UK next month: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Man-Iron-Heart-DVD/dp/B0777RJ8WK

edit: It had a limited theater released in November! I didn't find any article or tweet confirming the release, but boxofficemojo has a UK revenue. thumbsup

Why is that, I don't get it ?

Well, the "Translated Title" field should be used for the first official translation in each language. Therefore, for English language movies such as this one, the Translated Title (English) field will always be locked blank. That's also true for most languages e.g. for Danish language movies, the Translated Title (Dansk) field will always be locked blank. The only exceptions are language with two different translations (French, Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin). I think Travis said we will support more translations in the future, but right now we only have one English. duck

But that's only if Hhhh has been the title in an English language country, like AUS/USA/CA etc, right?

If UK is the first English release, and it's released as The man blabla, it should still be the English translated title. So, has it been released as Hhhh somewhere? I still don't know XD

For example, if the Dutch Boy 7 movie would get a release as Number 7 in UK it would still be the EN translated title, it doesn't matter that Boy 7 could also work for a English titled movie. Or that a spoken movie is English or Dutch or something else. It's about releases in English countries!

The movie was first released in France as "Hhhh". If we want to nitpick, according to Wiki, "HHhH" is a German abbreviation. But you are right, the actual language of the term is irrelevant. "Hhhh" is the fr-FR title.

The movie was first released in its original version (English) in the UK as "The Man with the Iron Heart". The title is also seems to be used in a few other EU countries. Therefore, "The Man with the Iron Heart" should be the original title.

I fixed the titles: https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/339259-the-man-with-the-iron-heart/edit?active_nav_item=primary_facts&language=fr-FR

Yeah. Deciding what the original country/language/title is. Is the hardst 😂

It's sounds way too complicated, when even the MOD's are not sure what to do :)

@Travis rename "Translated Title (English)" to "Original English Title"... DONE ;)

OR make "Original Title" language independent, so every language has it's own "Original Title"

  • I think it's best to add something like the (language independent) "current DVD/Blu-ray title" because of e.g. the org. titles vs the "new"... "Star Wars" vs "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope"

DVD titles are no issue, they just go to alternatives with a note "DVD title" (noted should be all lowercase, only the common abbreviates in caps, like DVD/BD etc etc), theatrical release beats all! :)

O yes they are...

alternative titles:

  • anyone at any time can add, change or delete any number of titles.. real, users own custom or just crap titles.
  • the ONLY useful thing about them are to make the title searchable from the website or API

because of this it is impossible to be sure to get e.g. the "current DVD/Blu-ray title".

Let the users decide what title they want, this takes at least 3 titles:

  • "Original Title" ("the real" Original title from the Original language/country... same for ALL languages)
  • "Original *LANGUAGE Title" (Theatrical release title in selected language/country... language independent)
  • "Current DVD/Blu-ray Title" (Current Physical release title in selected language/country... language independent)

*(selected language/country)

Yes it’s a much requested thing to make alternative titles and release dates for example lockable.

But just because users can change thing. We don’t change the rules. Why nog just close down the whole thing ;/). Rules are rules. If you don’t like the titles. You can feel free to override them locally in your mediacenter for example.
