V filmu X-Men: Dark Phoenix telepat Jean Grey razvija neverjetne psihične moči, ki pokvarijo njegov um in ga spremenijo v strašnega Črnega feniksa. Trening med stenami Šole za nadarjene mladih Charlesa Xavierja (James McAvoy) je pod nadzorom briljantnega profesorja Beast-a (Nicholas Hoult) obrodila sadove: mladi mutanti, ki so se borili in premagali Apokalipso, niso več tisti neurejen razred let, vendar preizkušena ekipa superjunakov, znana kot X-Men.
