So you're saying that it made $202,003,951 its first week and so far it's made another $89,950,471 (almost half as much and the weekend is not over yet, as Box Office Mojo halted counting dailies on Thursday, big hikes usually occur on the weekends) on it's second week. I'm not seeing a drastic drop here. 50% drop each week is the norm for any movie, and at this rate I expect only a 40% drop to be reported for this week on Monday. Math I'm guessing is not your strongsuit.

Usually people don't adopt kittens on the second Monday of the week and I see that you dislike Mondays so therefore you hate kittens. Way to go on that achievement.

Ah, shit, a Malkavian. I suppose I'll figure out what the hell you're talking about in a month or so. BTW it made 28m on Friday, so there goes your theory out the window..

You are close but I am a Malkovich. BP just experienced an 80% drop from last Monday. It appears the dropening continues.

You really need to learn math, the drop week to week was less then 30%. 170m take this week compared to 242m last Monday is not an 80% drop.

Monday Feb 26, 2018

$8,098,481

-79.8%

I apologize for rounding up.

You were saying something about Math skills? lolz

That's how much it made in that day and the percentage when compared to the day before, not how much it made in that week compared to how much it made in the week before. You're obviously just trolling, and anything you say not to be taken seriously. Good day to you, sir.

$8,098,481

-77.1% / -79.8%

77.1 is the drop from the previous day and 79.8 is the drop from the previous Monday. See Box Office Mojo for the details.

Shall I do the math for you?

As of 2/19/18 = 242,155,680

As of 2/26/18 = 411,711,738

Earnings between weeks = 411,711,738 - 242,155,680 = 169,556,058

Drop = 242,155,680 - 169,556,058 = 72,599,622

Drop Percentage = 72,599,622/242,155,680 = 0.299805571 = 29.98% Earnings Drop between week 1 and week 2

I use Mondays as that's usually when the actuals are posted.

Ok lets try this again. For the record I am comparing the first Monday and second Monday ONLY. That would be Feb 19 and Feb 26. I am not comparing week 1 and week 2 like you are. Again I am only comparing 2 days here, which are Monday Feb 19 and Monday Feb 26, 2018. On Monday Feb 19, BP posted an earnings of $40,151,729 and on Monday Feb 26, BP posted an earnings of $8,098,481. According to Box Office Mojo that would be a drop of 79.8%. Again its a 79.8% drop from Monday Feb 19 to Monday Feb 26. I am not comparing any other days than those 2 days that I previously listed. I am not comparing a week to week drop like you said, I am comparing a Monday and the following Monday.

Feb 19, 2018 $40,151,729

-33.2% / - - / -

The 33.2% is the drop from the previous day which is a Sunday. The next column is blank because there is no previous Monday earnings.

Feb 26, 2018 $8,098,481

-77.1% / ** -79.8%**

77.1 is the drop from the previous day and 79.8 is the drop from the previous Monday. See Box Office Mojo for the details.

Thanks? My posts consist of facts and my opinion. I posted the facts 3 times yet people think I am trolling. The best part is when people disagree with the facts, thats when my elite trolling starts. lol :)

It appears the hype is wearing off.

Your so called facts don't support that the Hype is wearing off. Your so called facts don't support there is a trend of the box office dropping at an ever increasing rate that exceeds and or equals comparable movies that have peaked. Your so called facts don't support your Opinion, which is what most ever one is trying to discuss with you. You've taken one data point and extrapolated your own narrative and definition for Dropening. The Academy of Trollers are extending you an award. The Academy of Etymologists and the American Dialect Society sends their condolences and a life long rejection letter to any and all entries that you submit. In other words you've been proactively banned.

Meanwhile at the "Hall of Justice".

Well the FACT that its dropping off in the numbers is a FACT. But the rest is opinion for sure. Note: All films start dropping after the first week. Its very rare that in the second weekend it gets a boost in sales. Facts are facts and numbers are numbers, things certain people dont seem to understand. Oh and the Hall of Justice joke...hahaha priceless!

I just read through this thread, and I'm trying to figure out why anyone would compare the box office from a Monday holiday following opening weekend to the following Monday that is a regular business day when school is also back in session. Of course there is going to be a drastic difference in revenue, so how could anyone possibly view that as evidence that hype has already worn off or that the movie is performing poorly at the box office?

Your post will fly over the OP's head.

Thanks OddRob, the facts of anything always seem to stump people. People will always extrapolate the content they want to see in any sentence. I thought the "Dropening" was pure genius myself.

The key to any great thread is to post a fact and a opinion. People take forums way too seriously these days.
