Original title per official promotional material is Thor: Ragnarok. IMDb, for unknown reason, lists Thor: Ragnarök as the original title. However, I doubt that will stay as their policy is to use the on screen title as the first official screening. But should they be correct, we will have to reconsider at that point.

It might have something to do with this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ragnar%C3%B6k Is there anyway to get the original title form marvel besides there website?

It is possible that they will eventually use the stylized title, but note that this is an American movie so using the original Scandinavian spelling would be highly unusual. The original Marvel comics used Ragnarok I think.

The trailer is a good official source. Also, when new information arrives most if not all news/entertainment media will use the title provided in the press release. So press usage could be used as support for what title to use.

I found one poster her on TMDB that uses Ragnarök: https://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/1rXiqBlOwyrXlbx4Oja6UhrQFPX.jpg So it might be that it originally used that but changed it so it would be easier to understand.

If this is the case should the original title be Ragnarök and then Ragnarok in the English translated title field?

I'm just asking for clarification and future reference in case something like this happens again.

I'm pretty sure that was a fan-made poster based on what the fan thought was the title at the time. Or, perhaps more correctly, a fan-made logo, that another fan used to create a custom poster.

No. First, we don't allow English on English translations. Second, any title used before a title was changed (before release) would not be an original title, but a working title.

When we publish our "bible" with all our rules and regulations, there will be more detailed information about how to interpret original titles for some English titles. The trickiest cases are usually when movies are released in one English country (say Australia or the UK) and then released in the US with a different title.

Thanks for the clarification!

I hope that bible gets released soon!!!
