This is one one of my favourite Bette Davis movies.
So many emotions, fear, love, happiness, pain, joy, death. Bette just shines all the way through it.
George Brent was Davis's perennial leading man.
Ronald Regan so young in this. Who would have thought in those days where his future was heading.
Humphrey Bogart was a bit of a distraction as his irish accent kept changing.
I think I'll have a large order of prognosis negative!.

Those words "Prognosis negative" in this definitely are classic!

Davis is wonderful in this, and I love Geraldine Fitzgerald's performance too.
Bogart - my favourite actor - is woefully out of place and I always found Brent a little on the dull side, if I'm being honest.
Not quite top-drawer Bette, for me - I'd take The Little Foxes, The Letter, Now Voyager and one or two others before it - but it's still a smashing melodrama weepy.

Yeah Bogart sure did look out of place.
I forgot to mention Geraldine Fitztgerald. She was wonderful in this.
I just watched this movie back to back with In This our Life. George Brent seemed to play the same character in both movies just with different names.
The Letter is another favourite. Actually most are favourites

I am sorry to necro an old thread like this. But it absolutely made me cry. What a splendid film. I will try some of the other recommendations in this thread from Miss Davis.

This is on my top ten Davis films, along with Now Voyager ("Oh, Jerry, don't let's ask for the moon. We have the stars.", that gets me every time), Mr. Skeffington, Jezebel, The Little Foxes, The Letter, All About Eve, All This, and Heaven Too, The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex, The Corn Is Green.

That sounds great, I will try them as well!! :D I sat between Dark Victory and Jezebel yesterday. Thank you for your recommendations. :) I'd also like to mention George Brent, I thought his performance in this movie was really good!

Definitely on my top 5 list. Only down side imo was the daughter. I found her annoying.

I felt sorry for her, her mother hated her.
I am watching this right now (it's been on 3 or 4 times in the last couple of weeks). She has just met Jerry.

As far as I know, death is not an emotion. But I agree with you that many feelings are explored in the film. Bette Davis is one of my favorite actresses.

I re-watched it just the other day. Cried the whole way through. Think I might do it again tomorrow. ;)
