Discuss The Conjuring 2

that i just paused to movie to speak my mind really quick. They go to the young girls house, they have a touching conversation on the swings, and for the next 20 min they are doubting her and the scenario at hand. They think its fake, this family is going out their way to scam. Such bullshit. Whatever.

I AM SORRY, they believe her and he even played a tune on his guitar, i guess i don't understand all the questioning after we saw what happened. She was pulled in a locked room by a demon and yet, they are reminded that the doors were locked and whatnot. Anywho.

In real life when the Warrens briefly worked on this case they left because they thought it was a hoax. They didn't even investigate to the extent that the movie portrays. I really thought they should have chosen a case they really worked on like The Smurl Family that one is crazy and frightening. Maybe there will be a 3rd movie I hope there will be!!!

That's what I liked about the Conjuring movies they portray about 50% of the actual events then spice it up, unlike the Annabelle spinoffs which are completely fictional.

I didn't care for Annabelle at all but the new one looks really good! Have you seen the trailer?

I have, my main problem with Annabelle 2 was the creation of the mysterious toymaker, however the real Annabelle (which was actually just a Raggedy Anne ) doll was produced by the Knickerbocker toy co. It's touches back to my complaint about the going completely fictional direction in the spinoffs of Conjuring.

I have to agree with Melanie. Knowing the case, this movie didn't work well for me. I enjoyed the first one, but this one with the vision of Ed dying was contrived poppycock and fell flat for me. I really do wish they'd used a case the Warrens actually worked and extensively documented. There's so many to choose from it doesn't make sense to adapt this one as a Warren case. That was just a bad move. I don't mind adding a bit of flash to the story, but in this case they completely changed the events by making the Warrens central to the investigation. Watch BBC's The Enfield Haunting instead (although it also has some changes, they're more acceptable storywise).

Having said that, there are certainly aspects of this I liked. I just wish they'd used a more viable Warren case to base the story on.

My favorite part about the Conjuring 2 was Janet's description of possession coming from behind. I don't think it's ever been described that way in any movie, however it's completely in line with Voudon beliefs that describe the feeling of possession as akin to being ridden like a horse. It's what I really love about the Conjuring movies, they put in just enough of actual events and lore that make you interested in looking into them further.

Thank you! You said it best!! I really hope there's a conjuring 3 and that it's a case they really worked hard on and stuck it out til the end!

Supposedly that's how Bill communicated with witnesses, they all claimed that whenever he spoke it would sound like it came from behind Janet and Janet herself said she would feel as though he had his mouth to the back of her neck. The Enfield haunting lost a lot of it's credibility in the 90's when the sisters admitted to faking some of it such as the levitation photographs, but they did say that they were young and enjoyed the attention of having camera crews there and felt they needed to do something during lulls in activity because it could be days or even weeks between supernatural events. They also felt safer with people there, especially when Bill became malevolent and started hurting folk. There are also details of the haunting that can't be explained, for example Bill Wilkins's son said that only he knew where and how his father died and what sort of bitter person his father really was and yet an 11-year old girl would say things his dad would say almost word for word and knew exactly how he died.
