Discuss The Verdict

In the scene where Kaitlin Costello had a photo copy of the admittance form, the judge was asked to rule against it, which he didn't do straight away and let Kaitlin give her testimony. He was so crooked, but! did he have a change of heart or did he make a mistake in letting her testify as he noted at the end... I'm still trying to work that out lol.

Thanks mechajutaro, that seems to make sense...

The problem with photocopies is that they can be tampered with, which is why the judge overruled the evidence - at least in my way of thinking anyway.

Not sure myself; Paul Newman threatening to call for his impeachment earlier in the movie may have encouraged him to behave more ethically. In this trial anyway....

Judges can get away with anything. They are not accountable to anyone; no "impeachment" proceeding would ever be held.

My take was that the judge was honest at some point in his career. He wanted to hear about what really happened, to satisfy his own curiosity. But his prompting by the defense attorney made him support the hospital. His ruling was correct too. Anyone could use whiteout and alter what appears to be an original, to create false evidence.
