Discuss The Terminator

Obviously it's not a plot hole, but nevertheless I find it rather implausible that a soldier from the grim future, where cars are easy targets for the HK (as shown in the dream sequence) would be such an accomplished driver in the 1980s, besting police officers and even the T-800. Thoughts?

Yes, we see a car get picked off by a hunter-killer in the dream sequence rather simply. However, I kept imagining there being real race-em, dodge-em maneuvers between the cars driven by survivors and the robots all of the times I kept watching the movie. Maybe the HKs are kind of rare in the future where Reese comes from?

Maybe, but his driving skills (under pressure, nonetheless) are well above average, almost to the level of a pro driver.

He's a survivor. He's lasted through the post-nuclear war warfare with the machines for a reason, I'd wager.
