Discuss The Wages of Fear

I was pretty bored and annoyed by the overacting characters in the start of the movie... but when they got onto the road the atmosphere pleasantly changed into dark suspense with a thrilling storyline. The cinematographic was superbe! Very enjoyable

I never would’ve thought a bunch of trucks driving at 10 mph could be so damn suspenseful but I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Also LOVED the speech about the empty lot at the end (a metaphor about afterlife/god which was censored out of the original release). Clouzot was a master of subtlety, suspense & intrigue. You should check out “Diaboliques” another classic!

I have a warm spot for the remake The Sorcerer too.

Never knew there was a remake til now but wow William Friedkin... if anyone can pull it off it's him. Added to my list!

As per usual, not as good as the original. And Friedkin wanted Steve McQueen for the lead but old Steve was turning down everything around then.

Steve McQueen would've rocked the lead role. I see he got Roy Scheider instead who always struck me as more of a reluctant/awkward hero like in Jaws and 2010. But it still looks fun.
