Discuss Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Things that make you go hmmmm for some reason the fan score has not changed from 86% no matter how many people vote, something doesnt seem quite right here.

Because RT doesn't count anything below three stars for it viewers score also the word is they are holding back viewer scores so the score rating will probably drop after the second week.

Luckily there are other sites to visit for scores, eg. imdb & metacritic. And this site, but I don't know if this is reliable too, cuz whenever I voted here for unpopular films, ie. with few voters, their scores didn't changed. So I stopped voting & simply watch films out of curiosity.

I have seen the score change after voting here. It is very rare but it does happen. Never seen it happen on any other site. I don't think this site is manipulating scores. The ratings seem too all over the place for them not to be real.

I've mentioned this on another thread previously but this site has an open API which anyone can use if you request a key. It's been a good couple of years since I looked at it but you could (/ still can?) get a breakdown of any film's scoring totals, i.e. how many voted it 1/10, 2/10, etc. As far as I recall the listed average score was genuine.

TMDB seems pretty reliable IMDB has still got a lot of background information and is pretty accurate with things like actors/actresses appearing in movies tv shows, crew, production info, biographies etc.

I think the audience score is fairly correct. Most people seem to love the movie.

I absolutely loved this movie.

Going to call bullshit that this is the true audience score have never seen a score on there to stay stagnant at the same score for weeks after launch

He is right, a lot of people do like it. Everyone I hear from online seems to hate it but everyone I've spoken to in real life who has seen it likes it.

I doubt I'll like it. It doesn't sound very good. But it does seem to be the kind of film that general everyday audiences enjoy. So it's audience score doesn't seem that out of the question.

But it's not bullshit at all that most people loved or at least liked the movie.

No you dont seem to understand what he is saying. The score on RT hasnt changed...at all since release. That dosent happen. Probably because you cant give it a lower score than 3, have to be in the US, and have to buy your ticket thru fandango. RT is a broken system. Metacritic is a much better representation IMO.

Thanks... She uploaded a later vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxaWE97QElI, pouring more 1000's of reviews. In summary, low scores seemed more verbose & less repetitive. Perfect scores were much shorter (many with only ~5 words) & highly repetitive. Slight variation of words are easily achieved using text spinner / article rewriter software.

I start to think it should be illegal to mislead potential customers, just as it is for pharma, banking & other industies to mislead customers in ads. Unlikely to happen, so I can bin RT from my go-to review sites. I don't know why, but a small part of me feels sadder in witnessing this... Anyway kudos to those 2 investigators!

RT hasnt been a real aggregate site in a very long time. Like I said Metacritic is much better IMO. But it is idiotic to pick up a 4K film and see 'fresh on rotten tomatoes' on the front cover, like that actually means something.

Disney is already under investigation for illegally inflating their income out of their theme parks with the aim to artificially inflate the price of their shares so that during their take over of FOX,FOX shareholders would rather exchange their FOX shares for (overpriced)Disney shares than getting paid actual money for their FOX shares.
