Обсудить Akira

I heard a remake is coming out for this movie and that's why I'm here.

Akira holds a special place in my heart. The massive amount of animation in this could have supported 10 films (someone make me a liar on this claim!) A vast and sprawling Sci Fi landscape complete with bike gangs, science gone wrong and an emerging horror trapped in a teenage boy that's been attempted to be copied into many films since then.

Jordan Peele, I heard, was tagged to do a ("non-animated?") version of this. I believe he can do this film justice, if anyone can. His twisted sense of comedy and his work on "Get-Out" I think, can give this film the attention it needs. He'll be up against the Thralls of die hards, who would want nothing better that to cut down anyone who attempts to stab at their memories of a masterpiece. Me, naw, I'm all for it! Bring forth a classic that, now that technology has caught up, deserves big screen treatment. But will there be enough money to work with? I'm down for an ALL Japanese cast, (can't remember if there were foreigners - I think there was...) unless the part calls for it. Big name actors (I'm being ambitious here) would bring more people. But hell, have the Star Wars mentality, big names can fill specific, key side roles.

This is the kind of story that I go to the theaters for. Not only to re-live a high school memory, but to see it re-imagined with all the bells and whistles artistic technology and practical effects of today can provide. Good luck to whom ever is in on making this happen - you're going to need it!

Nope, I guess he's not doing it 8^(

I don't believe a live action version of this film could work, it'd become a CGI mess, taking away from some big scenes, like Tetsuo's transformation.

That being said, a remake of this would be cool, it'd be nice to see a TV anime series that follows the manga, but I'm fine with no remake at all, the original is an important classic, after all.

I enjoyed Akira. A live-action remake doesn't sound like a good idea.

The music, the animation, the intelligent selection of the most coherent parts of the manga to fit into a film. I think Akira will still astound me when I'm old and grey.

Just watched the 4k re release in theater. The sound was awfull. I don't know what was so wrong but it's a big déception. Rewatching it on my 2001 DVD looks just better! Anyone else experiences this?
