Nick definitely should've left well enough alone. After traveling back for the first time, he's saved all his friends, and should've quit while ahead. If you screw up and get fired, you simply get another job. No need to keep traveling back in time like a complete putz. On the other hand, it did seem as though he traveled back involuntarily this particular time.
