Could Mrs Barry have saved Hope?

If Mrs Barry had invited John in for a cup of tea and a bit of a chinwag re Delmar and the good old days, do you think Hope would have been spared?
I think so - I'm sure Rambo would still have blown a gasket further down the road but I think he would have breezed past Teasle at that stage with a spring in his step...

Mrs Barry should have called the police immediately. Alarm bells should have rung when she smelled the odour from his sleeping bag.

That odour was entirely innocent - just some left over complimentary Beast Aftershave from his Rocky II days...

The town Rambo shot up wasn't Hope. It was Jerkwater, U.S.A.

Ha! Coincidentally, I've just been watching Over The Top in which Sly drives a truck advertising the real life Beast Aftershave aka Brut in a fine piece of 80s product placement. One likes to think if the deal had fallen through, Beast would have been up there...

He probably wouldn't have been as interested in hanging around town with a full stomach.
Teasle choosing his words a little more carefully would have gone a long way as well. He could have given Rambo a lift without the lecture about not wanting "his kind" around. Regardless of motives, he should have acted like he was helping him on his journey and not just removing an undesirable.
