Your Favorite Lawrence Kasdan Films

I was surprised to know that I have seen most of the 12 films he has directed. I liked most and loved some. What is your take on some of these films and Kasdan as a director/screenwriter?

Body Heat (1981) IMBD 7.4 My Rating 9 - Love the vibe of this movie, it even feels uncomfortably hot watching it
The Big Chill (1982) IMBD 7.2 My Rating 9 - Great ensemble, good music, probably a little too soap opera for some
Silverado (1985) IMBD 7.2 My Rating 8 - Kevin Kline and John Cleese in a Western takes some stones
The Accidental Tourist (1988) IMBD 6.8 My Rating 8 - Nice cast and an underrated love story
I Love You to Death (1990) IMDB 6.4 My Rating 6 - Some funny parts and I did like this better the second viewing
Grand Canyon (1991) IMDB 6.9 My Rating 7 - I like the premise of seeing beyond the stereotypes, but it could have been better
Wyatt Earp (1994) IMDB 6.7 My Rating 8 - Suffers when compared to Tombstone and an hour to long, but I'm a sucker
French Kiss (1995) IMDB 6.6 - I've not seen it and have seen no desire to do so
Mumford (1999) IMDB 6.8 My Rating 9 - One of my favorite sleeper movies, see here
Dreamcatcher (2003) IMDB 5.5 - Not seen it, Kasdan doing Stephen King????
Darling Companion (2012) IMBD 5.1 - Not seen it, looks like he might have went to the well once to often

Kasdan was the writer for most of these and he didn't direct but was also the writer for Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and Raiders of the Lost Ark...pretty talented dude.

His writes better for other directors.

Other then the ones I mentioned (Star Wars & Raiders) the only other movie I can think of that he wrote and didn't direct was The Bodyguard with Costner and Whitney Houston....Fun Fact- He originally wrote that in the 70's for Steve McQueen and Diana Ross, but it was turned down like 50 times. That would have been an odd pairing. The Costner/Houston pairing I thought was actually pretty good and I'm one of the few who liked the movie; at least in my circle.

You're not alone, I like the Bodyguard too!

I'm not much of a pop music fan, especially anything after 1980, but wow what a voice that woman had, and this movie showed she could act a little...so sad, such a waste
