Overblik

Tanken om at skulle binde sig gør Jack Singer skrækslagen, men tanken om at miste sin forlovede, Betsy, er endnu værre. Han fatter mod og lover at tage det store spring og sige ja i Las Vegas. Men da han indgår et dårligt væddemål på $60.000 med gangsteren Tommy Korman, begynder situationen at tilspidses. Den eneste måde, hvorpå Korman vil glemme gælden, er hvis Jack indvilliger i at låne ham Betsy resten af weekenden. Det er imidlertid endnu et dårligt valg for Jack, for Korman har planer om at beholde Betsy for altid.
