Discuss Miracle on 34th Street

Ever since I was a kid watching this from starting sometime probably in the mid 1960s little Susan Walker's nightly putting her chewed gum away in a lidded box, to be retrieved on presumably the next day, has fascinated me, as I've never known anyone in everyday life - certainly no one of my acquaintance - to ever have done that. This movie is from 1947 (is now a full seventy years old), and perhaps it was the norm to reuse gum back then, especially considering it was just after wartime. However it's seemed very unusual to see (in this movie) anytime during my lifetime.

They even made a song about it (although it's left on a bedpost):

Cute song. It seems slightly familiar, so must be a song I used to hear on the radio while growing up.
