What happened to Bishop?

I didn't quite understand what happened to Bishop after Big Momma/Malcolm finished chasing him during the beach scene. He jumped onto another moving vessel, but the jump didn't seem that high to where it should've killed him. Is that what happened? That question was never really answered.

It wasnt the fall that killed him, he landed on a barb that pierced his heart. Pause it on the shot of him lying on the boat, dead. You can see something poking through his chest. On the DVD commentary, they mention there was supposed to be Blood to indicate the stabbing but they digitally removed it in post-pro.
