Discuss The Sessions

This was an interesting film, albeit more of a movie aimed at entertainment, than an a deep insight into life with extreme disability. Mark is a poet and a writer, yet these elements are fairly secondary. Can anyone imagine a time when a character such as Mark is the lead character in a film that is not all disability or about the crass humour of physical differences (for example films that invite you to be amused at a very small person, being small).

What about a lead character who has some mobility but is physically impaired? Personally, I think we are as far away as ever from that day.

This:- The Station Agent

Been a while since I saw it but didn't this film do just that?

Yes, I suppose the leads dwarfism was fairly incidental in that. Good shout!

I TRIED TO THINK OF A RESPONSE.THEN I REMEMERED HELEN FRIGGIN HUNT GOES FULL COMMANDO IN THIS..SO ..YEAH..IM BUSY.

Yes, it was achingly predictable that in a film about a physically disabled male exploring sexual activity, a film fundamentally about his body, that the only graphic frontal nudity would be of the female character. Sometimes I despair.

HELEN HUNT...WHO THE FUCK ELSE NEEDED TO BE NAKED?HELEN HUNT WAS SOOOOO GOLD.

I have not seen this movie, but for me, it seems like the opposite is always true in most films I watch. There are obviously exceptions, but many of them will only show the guy in graphic, full frontal nudity. You might get a quick glance at a nude female character, or just bare breasts or butt. Off the top of my head, I remember Creep 2 and Under The Skin as recent viewings for these examples. I always groan and kind of laugh to myself because it doesn't seem fair.
