Discuss The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension

Today I just happened to come across this film while browsing Amazon Prime. At first I couldn't remember seeing it, so I proceeded to do so. Then it all slowly came back, LOL, the corn in this movie is golden jubilee! So many one liners. The final credits are even classic mid-80s glam rock, skip, jump and twirl. Oh my goodness, Duran Duran, DIYer Weller, red cowboy surgeon Goldblum, gun toting adolescent ready for war jumping of the bus, and goldilocks Lloyd. But the Oscar winning performance of Lithgow takes the cake. Enjoy 😊

Without Lithgow, Banzai wouldn't even be a cult film. His performance as John Bigbooty (sorry, Boo-TAY) was the highlight of the movie. It was so deliciously OTT that it made the film eminently watchable.

Bigboote was Lloyd but your point stands. 👍🏼

John Lithgow was so awesome! He was just the sort of evil villian Buckaroo needed!

I also thought that John Lithgow's Mussolini impression (when he was giving that speech at Yoyodyne) was awesome!

In addition, the Russian comedian Yakov Smirnoff as the American National Security Advisor was so cool!

"Don't tug on that! You never know what it might be connected to!"

Too bad the sequel never happened.

It certainly was.

@Rickers : My 2 favorite lines (both said by Lithgow):

To hospital orderly: "Laugh while you can, Monkey Boy!"

To Red Lectroids at Yoyodyne: "Where are we going?" Lectroids: "Planet 10!" Lord Whorfin: "When?" Lectroids: "Real soon!"
