Indubitably, Sim. Good one, Dave. It doesn't matter that you put me on ignore three months ago. I'm just going to continue talking to you even though I know you'll never see it because its my job to post here.
Oh yes......... I really made him blow his lid that night. He made the mistake of asking me what historic transgressions of his gave him little license to laugh at others. He didn't appreciate my detailed and fact-based response. With that one post I actually made it onto the hallowed ignore list ahead of Shape - who had spent months cutting him down to size almost daily!
That was some night, and yes, I'm surprised I didn't get placed on that list long before you. There were many times when I said something to him and as I was hitting the post button I was saying to myself, "this might be the one that does it."
I know Dave labeled me a bully as a result of a lot of things that I said to him, but I really wasn't trying to be. I just didn't care for the way he treated most of the people there and he had that thing about him where he really thought he should be able to act in any manner he deemed fit and talk to anyone in any way he wanted to and they should just sit back and take it with a smile. I just felt he should have a little bit of that thrown back in his direction, and I had no problem being the one to do it. I realize that it did get in the way of talking about the movie alot of the time, and I do apologize for that, but I just couldn't sit back and let him get away with it.
Part of me wondered a lot of the time if this was just some act that he was doing. Maybe he was having a laugh at our expense. I've been taking part in forums since the late 90s and I've never encountered anyone like him.
To be honest, I think you did a commendable job of reigning him in. His behaviour was such that anyone challenging him was taking up an honourable vocation. Plus you did it in amusing fashion with a wit that generally sailed over his head. Typically, I only engaged him when he involved me in a discussion but his debating skills and tolerance of alternate views were so absent, that I did so merely as a passtime with the thinly veiled hope that he might learn the concept of subjective opinion.

I almost want to say that it was his upbringing that made him that way. But I doubt in the real world (off the computer) he was able to behave the way he does and get by with it. In fact if someone like him acted like that in the real world, someone would surely beat the snot out of him. I think the computer and being on a message board gave him the safety to do and say whatever he wanted...just like any troll. How his account lasted that long is beyond me.
I also think just from watching and reading his posts over the years he was so delusional that he thought he had a certain charm to him. And it didn't help that initially, someone like Dave took up for him.
When I first started posting on the Halloween board...I hate to admit it, I liked the guy...but the more I was there...boy did that change quickly.

Or at the very least, how more "rewatchable" it supposedly is!

Dave - you're a gentleman and a scholar. At least until you figured me out and stuck me on ignore! Then you were reclassified as an ass.

Yeah, for some reason I was able to fly under the radar for a long time. He dropped the hammer on Simest and I the same night.
