Discuss Steel Magnolias

They say she has diabetes, but it seems like there's something more serious going that isn't said. It seems odd to me that when she's talking M'Lynn about being pregnant that she can't adopt because no one would give a baby to someone with her medical records. Diabetes doesn't seem like it should or would disqualify someone from being an adoptive parent.

Also, I don't understand medical records being part of an adoption decision.

Her diabetes was severe , it affected her kidneys. Women with diabetes that severe shouldn't carry a child because it puts too much of a strain on her body.

What exactly was wrong with Shelby?

Tommy arranged for her to be slowly poisoned with arsenic, after she betrayed the family and fled to The States so as to flee his wrath. "By order of the f--kin Peaky Blinders!!!"
