Als Homestead durch die Verwüstungen eines Hurrikans von der Außenwelt praktisch abgeschnitten wird, kommt es in der Stadt zu seltsamen Vorkommnissen: Russells Tochter Rose berichtet von Lichtern, die sie im Sturm gesehen hat. Mariel wird am Morgen nach dem Hurrikan nackt in einem See aufgefunden – ohne Erinnerung an das, was in der vergangenen Nacht passiert ist.
