The Ox-Bow Incident

March 11, 1943

Gil Carter and Art Croft ride into a small Nevada town plagued by cattle thieves. Initially suspected of being the rustlers themselves, Carter and Croft eventually join a posse out to get the criminals, who also may be involved in a recent shooting. The Shipleys then organize a lynch mob and head for the jail.

During the depths of the Great Depression a hitch-hiker Steve Talbot (Ronald Reagan) and jukebox-joint hostess Lola Mears (Ann Sheridan) stumble into Cat-Tail Florida where farmers and pickers struggle under the buyer who rules by monopoly, dirty contracts and violence. Steve helps organize against the buyer, leading to further escalation ending in a lynch mob.
