Tvár je nespútaná, nekonvenčná bájka o vnútornej sile a kráse, v ktorej sa virtuózne kĺbi realizmus, fantazijné prvky a čierny humor. Szumowska zámerne pracuje s rozvoľnenou štruktúrou, ktorej nevyspytateľnosť ešte umocňuje rafinovanou hrou s ostrením. Výsledkom je nekompromisná, ale zároveň mimoriadne zábavná štúdia krízy identity, v ktorej sa umne prepína z komisnej frašky do uštipačného spoločenského komentára.
