Der idealistische Kinderarzt und Schriftsteller Janusz Korczak ist Leiter eines vorbildlichen Heims für jüdische Waisenkinder. Nach dem deutschen Überfall auf Polen zwingen die Nazis den engagierten Pädagogen, sein Kinderheim ins Warschauer Ghetto zu verlegen. Mit unermüdlichem Elan trotzt er den entsetzlichen Lebensbedingungen, beschafft mit allerlei Tricks Nahrungsmittel und versucht, Würde und Persönlichkeit der Kinder zu achten - pädagogische Grundsätze, die seine Arbeit schon vor dem Krieg bestimmt haben. Als die Deutschen das Ghetto räumen, bildet selbst das Waisenhaus keine Ausnahme. Freunde mit guten Verbindungen wollen ihn zur Flucht ins Ausland überreden, doch Korczak lässt die ihm anvertrauten Kinder nicht im Stich.
Die Hauptrolle spielt der Vorsitzende des Sportvereins Tęcza (Regenbogen). Dieser wird von Freunden und Bekannten Teddybär genannt. Eines Tages wird er an der Landesgrenze an der Ausreise gehindert, als seine Mannschaft zu einem Wettbewerb reisen will. Jemand hat einige Seiten aus seinem Reisepass gerissen. Er vermutet dahinter seine Ex-Frau, da diese das gemeinsame Bankkonto in London leeren möchte. Daher muss er dringend nach London kommen, um das Geld zu einer anderen Bank zu transferieren. Die Lösung des Problems ist ein Filmdreh eines befreundeten Regisseurs.

This film is a sequel to Munk's Zezowate Szczescie and it's much the same, only more so. The film begins in a cinema, where the last scenes of Zezowate Szczescie are being shown. Born unlucky, a victim of the errors and distortions of Stalinism, he is released in 1956. He meets a politically feverish woman, her influential parents, and finally becomes the father of her child. But bad luck, or perhaps an unlucky era, will not let him forget.
Kaziuk, a stubborn peasant and his pregnant wife live in a backwood village, unaffected by the civilization. The village is once visited by a couple of wanderers, and strange things start to happen afterward. A new schoolteacher is sent to the area. She stirs erotic fantasies in Kaziuk. In a stir of frustration Kaziuk cuts down a family tree - a sacrilegious act in the eyes of his family. Going a step further and using a scythe for cutting the rye instead of a sickle brings the whole village against him.

A story of a dropout out of a succesful career and a loving family. He goes to a local railroad station, then checks into a hotel and refuses to leave despite visits by a psychiatrist and his own son. He watches people daily at the station. A tv reporter is trying to come up with a story which would help him to save his job. He likes to chase women and the dropout's wife is one of his targets. He gets interested in the story of her husband and tries to make a program about mysterious individual. Once the tv crew arrives to the scene, the subject tries to hide and ends up on the roof of the station, where he catches a glimpse of sunshine - the "smaller sky" - before stepping onto a glass roof and falling to his death.
