In Munich 1955, German film star Veronika Voss becomes a drug addict at the mercy of corrupt Dr. Marianne Katz, who keeps her supplied with morphine. A civil project by nature, it might be abused as an offensive weapon, since it could deliver devastation to any potential adversary simply by creating natural disasters such as storms and floods. No wonder the space station soon becomes the central point in rising political tensions between East and West, next stop World War 3 (as indicated by the tagline "The end of our future has already begun"). We follow the main protagonist Billy Hayes, an astronaut aboard the station, as he wades through a plot of secrecy and sabotage trying to tell friend from foe in the process.

Adapted from the novel Die Döppelgänger by Theodor Storm, this black-and-white drama tells the tragic story of a war veteran who, in 1860, returns to his home in Schleswig Holstein after serving a term for robbery. Ridiculed and abused, with practically no work, he turns to drink and one night accidentally kills his wife. The child of their marriage is taken away from him, and at this point he is left with the options of becoming a robber, starving to death, or emigrating.

When they check for mountain rescue service they suddenly find themselves deeply involved in an local myth about a prophecy which seems to be fulfilling now. The mountains are bearing an old curse.

On a rainy vacation day in a hotel room in Yugoslavia, a 40-year-old father and his adolescent daughter are bored. In the free-flowing surroundings, the dreams he once had in his youth come back to life in him. The game becomes almost serious. Only the presence of his daughter makes him realize that there is no way to start a new life without acting irresponsibly towards his child.
