Discuss The Strain

Sad to see the show go. Lots of superb eps over the years.

As for the finale... it seemed odd the Master would fall for one of the oldest tricks in the book he probably wrote and walk into an ambush. Just a really dumb thing to do after nearly conquering the earth!

Sure he wanted to kill Quinlan but did it have to be right then? It is as if he allowed emotion to overrule common sense. Fet and Goodweather never would have be out like that casually walking around in a crisis situation. "TRAP" was written all over the scenario.

Then after all the hand wringing, Dutch and Fet do NOT end up a couple!! Wtf?? She is so full of s**t and he probably knew it and decided to die just to get away from her!!

Another one down. "Orphan Black" and now "The Strain". Next year goes GoT. Hope some new shows come along that are just as engaging.

Totally agree. I also didn't like that they had The Master Kill Quinlan. Not good. I know he probably had to die ( tho I really was hoping they'd find some way of having him survive) but couldn't they have had Quinlan beating hi, and holding him down whilst Eph set off the bomb????

I suppose they did it that to try and redeem that little shit Zach. I'd have preferred to have seen him ripped to pieces by Quinlan or fed to those Mongrel Strx things.

A unfitting end to our beloved Quinlan. Squished under The Masters boot!!!!!

True but it seemed to me that Quinlan let the Master get the better of him. If you notice he did not seriously fight back. I think he was waiting for the Master to get over confident and sloppy, leaving his vulnerable spot defenseless, so Quinlan could rip his throat out; knowing it would be a fatal blow even if it cost him his life. He was going to die when the Master died regardless.

To truly distract the Master he had to deal a defining blow. He waited and did. As the Master bled out Quinlan collapsed. The Master being still the stronger, killed him but, again, he was going to die anyway. I also think Zach seeing how the Master dealt with his own actual son made him realize he would never be safe as the Masters "son" and also that his real dad would never kill him.

Still the "Redemption of Zach" did nothing for me. It would have been better if Eph in his last moments of being himself set off the bomb. Since season two when Max Charles took over the role Zach has been written as an annoying brat. Many blame the actor for this, but as a former actor I know you do what the director tells you to and what the script dictates. So the show runners decided to make Zach an unlikable character. That he was is actually a compliment to the actor!

I thought the master was smarter than that which ruined the finale for me. He waited for ~9 months and then finally, when he was close to taking NYC for good that's when he was convinced to go after Eph and co. in person? It just didn't seem like a smart move nor something he would have fallen for.

I also thought Eph should have just hit the button. It would have meant more to me since he'd be sacrificing his kid to save the world. I could have cared less about whether Zach redeemed himself or not. He was a lost cause of a character at that point.
