And boom the second nacelle went wink

Of course, Roddenberry wanted it to be Yorktown. But just think. If they had used anything other than Enterprise, the "I, Mudd" episode would have had to be changed.

KIRK: What is a man but that lofty spirit, that sense of enterprise (nudges Mudd), that devotion to something that cannot be sensed, cannot be realized but only dreamed! The highest reality.

It was originally going to be "Independence".

You do and you'll clean it up, young lady!

@Jetfire59 sunglasses I couldn't resist posting that. However, in a Star Trek novel, there was a Starship called the USS John F. Kennedy, and on Star Trek Discovery they had a Starship named the USS Glenn (I'm assuming that it was named for John Glenn).

Then there's always the Mad Magazine parody "Star Blech". The ship was Uss Booby Prize.

USS Flotsam and her sister ship Jetsam

USS Hot Alien Chicks 😊

No it's the USS Glenn Quagmire (giggety) laughing

@Nexus71 : Nope, it's John Glenn the Astronaut and US Senator.
