In an attempt to find other couples with whom they have something in common with, Beth invites over a guy that she knows from their baby yoga class... unaware that he's gay. Meanwhile, Jimmy invites Carl over to watch the football game, but Carl finds he's being ignored as Jimmy spends the afternoon bonding with his new gay friends.

Beth and Jimmy are determined to convince a prestigious preschool, Little Harvard, to admit Otis - so Jimmy agrees to emcee a auction for the school, but he soon finds himself being the target of school mascot Auggie the Octopus's aggression. Meanwhile, Carl tries to tell Pam that he loves her.

It's time for Otis's birthday party at Buffalo Buck's Kiddie Corral, but it's less than the perfect party that his parents had planned. Carl and Pam break up, so they try to one-up each other by arriving at the party with dates (hers being Tennessee Titans running back Eddie George). Kevin frets over the fact that it's his birthday too (though he winds up having the ""best birthday ever"").
