The Movie Database Support

hi all, from where I sit, tmdb.org seems to be down. is this expected? I've searched on the forum but could only find 3-year-old discussions.

if the domain has been retired, I'll say goodbye to the shortened URL and start using the full domain name. otherwise, is it just me? or is there some misconfiguration or network error?

to be precise: tmdb.org does redirect to themoviedb.org, but not in full URLs like: https://tmdb.org/tv/1234

thanks.

tmdb.org is not dow.

The image.tmdb.org domain should only be used for images.

I believe that it worked for any Requisition but I believe that now only for images.

The domain api.themoviedb.org should be used for API Requests
https://api.themoviedb.org/3/movie/550?api_key=THE_KEY

And the domain themoviedb.org should be used for everything else.
https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/1234-clapperboard

thanks, but that is not what I asked.

for a very long time, the tmdb.org domain actually redirected to the full www.themoviedb.org domain for all queries, including something like:

https://tmdb.org/tv/1234 -->  https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/1234-clapperboard

until relatively recently -- IDK, it could be a few months -- when I've noticed that this redirection does not occur anymore. is this on purpose? it was really useful to be able to shorten:

https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/1100-how-i-met-your-mother

to

https://tmdb.org/tv/1100

thanks

What motivated the change I personally do not know.
Probably some management issue.
I understand that you want to shorten it.
Remember that it is not necessary to use the title in the URL.
Just use the ID.

https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/1100

https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/1100

sure, thanks, but I'll wait for someone to either confirm or deny that it is intended.

it might be unintentional and maybe due to a misconfiguration -- then this issue becomes a bug report.

... or it might be on purpose, then I'll hopefully clarify this for other users, as well, and update my links.

nobody?

The redirect still works for me as long as I don't use https, so for example:

http://tmdb.org/tv/1100

With https it just keeps loading.

yeah, I have noticed that, too. still, the behavior changes with respect to some time ago, so maybe it's just a misconfiguration of the HTTP/S redirects. any chance to bring this up to a higher up's attention?

Hey @piramiday, I'll see if I can find a few minutes to get this fixed in the next little while. Not sure I'd say this was ever truly supported, but at the same time I don't mind hooking it back up. thumbsup_tone2

may I bump this? I'm sure it would take only a few minutes... thanks, @travisbell!

Hi @piramiday, this should be working again.

Thanks!
