The Movie Database Support

Hi.

I use the TMDb addon on Kodi 18.4 Leia and found a trouble in search. I downloaded the movie The Mule but the query on TMDb returns other movies with the same title.

How can I do a specific query to fix this error?

1/ Try to add year in parentheses to the filename - e.g. "The Mule (2018)"

2/ You can use parsing nfo file to force Kodi match a specific movie. The parsing nfo file is basically just a text file named:

  • "movie.nfo" or [videofilename].nfo for movies (see here)
  • "tvshow.nfo" for TV series (see here)

The parsing nfo file must contain only 1 line of text with url of the movie on TMDB. E.g. for The Mule , the url in parsing nfo file should be:

https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/504172-the-mule

When you place the parsing nfo file in the same directory as your movie, then just remove the incorrectly matched movie from your Kodi library and update it manually to force new match.

how to operate on android TV

I've no experience with this system. I would guess that putting a year in the movie filename should be enough, as it is already some kind of standard. But generally, you should contact android TV support if you have any problems...
