The Movie Database Support

Good morning, i have just added a new movie to my plex library and its currently not matching, I edited some of the information for it but it still will not find a match on plex for it. (link to movie below) https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/614167-the-dark-within

Many Thanks Walker

Keep in mind that Plex uses:
a) internal cache for all http requests (i.e. queries)
b) cached data on Plex servers before making the query directly to TMDB

So it usually takes a few days/weeks before you will able to see any changes you made on TMDB if the data are already cached on (a) and (b).

Also I'm really glad you started to contribute new data here, but I would strongly recommend you to read our Contribution Bible first, as you made a few mistakes (@tmdb24407783, @Samara and @WardenclyffeTower corrected it already). Namely:

  • We leave the translated title blank if it is the same as the original title
  • Plot keywords like "the dark" and "the dark within" are not allowed (they are just part of the title and don't describe the movie)
  • In the release record, we leave the language field blank by default (it is used to distinguish between two or more language releases within the same country - e.g. German/French)
  • The character names should be in "name surname" order, i.e. "Blaine, Marcus" -> "Marcus Blaine"
  • @WardenclyffeTower replaced all posters/backdrops with higher quality versions
  • We prefer official sources for trailers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSZbZfhih8Q

You can see all changes on the movie history page..

Also I'm not sure about the US release date you have changed from 2019-07-01 to 2019-07-09, but I'll leave that on guys more experienced in US.

PS: I'm not an expert on US cinema and originally I just wanted to answer your Plex question, but seeing the guys started to correct your edits I have also mentioned a few mistakes you made just for your feedback. Others may give you more precise explanation what was wrong. Anyway, thank you!

much appreciate the feed back and ill make sure to check the contribution bible next time.

Im just wondering if the movie is not showing on plex due to it still says NR on TMDB?

I have just successfully matched that movie on my home Plex both with "The Movie Database" and "Plex Movie" scrapers. So it seems to be an issue either with the incorrect filename or with your local Plex http cache. I would recommend you to:

1/ Add (2019) to the movie filename and folder name + make sure that the movie file date attributes are with year 2019 and then try to rematch
2/ Clear The Movie Database scraper http cache (at your own risk):

  • Stop Plex
  • remove "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Caches\com.plexapp.agents.themoviedb " folder
  • Start Plex
    and then try to rematch

Really strange, The file name is correct as i copy and paste my file names from TMDB and always have the year at the end. i removed the "localappdata" file and that didnt work and i dont think i would like to clear the scraper as you said at your own risk disappointed_relieved still not working

I managed a work around by finding this thread by Plex online and suggested this

"When in a Movie library, you can enter the IMDB ID in the title and search for that. For instance, the IMDB entry for “Brave” is http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1217209/. If you enter tt1217209 as the search term, it will search for that exact movie to try to match."

Thanks for your time @talestalker i much apreciate it.
