We don't do any blocking... where are you accessing TMDb from (what country?) I've heard from some Indian users recently that TMDb is blocked by the Indian government. Could that be what's happening?

What is displayed when you go to www.themoviedb.org without a VPN?

hi yeah looks like my isp has blocked tmdb for some reason idk why it says connection lost when i try to go to the website without vpn. i use vpn and i can access it. because of this i cant use any of the apps now :(

also yeah i use tmdb from india

I'm a little hazy on the details but it sounds like there's an ISP or two that is blocking TMDb. I'm not sure if there's much we can do other than complain to your ISP and/or government that the block is unnecessary, unwarranted and a little odd to be honest. I can't imagine the reason they used to justify the block.

Another user who looked into this a bit for thought about the only thing we can do is file a grievance. There's 3 pages he linked me to:

I would suggest contacting your ISP.

The more people who complain will at the very least, hopefully get me in touch with someone. Best case, get the block removed.

any chance you could tag the user who provided you the info? I would like to ask him what isp he uses so that I can change my isp

@rutvikbhushan What ISP do you use?

Hey

I am using ACT fibernet as my ISP in Bangalore.

The site has been blocked since Jan 10th 2019

It appears to be a DNS level block with my ISP so I just use cloudflare or Google dns to bypass it (but it's not possible on all devices)

One of my friends using HATHAWAY as his ISP says it's not blocked for him (that ISP doesn't really block a lot of sites)

Nevertheless it's a completely ridiculous block because there's nothing illegal or questionable in this website, it's just like IMDb.

I have registered a grievance on https://pgportal.gov.in/ for the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology but haven't received any sort of response or correspondence yet. I would advise others to do the same too.

I have also tried contacting the ISP about this but haven't received any responses there either. If anyone could try the same to get more information about the reason behind the block, it would be helpful.

I am also using ACT fibernet from Bangalore and am unable to access the website since last week.

Could you try to get a response from the customer service about this? I've tried contacting but haven't received any replies from them.

You can bypass it by changing your DNS to Google or cloudflare as I said before.

i have changed my dns to cloudflare but it still says connection lost then i use a vpn and it works ... i even changed to google dns and tried same results how did you get it to work?

If you have Android Pie, under settings -> WiFi and internet -> Private DNS, set Private DNS provider hostname to 1dot1dot1dot1.cloudflare-dns.com

If you have other versions of Android, try installing an app like DNS changer by blokada https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.blokada.alarm.dnschanger It has cloudflare as one of the inbuilt options. It works by setting up a local VPN tunnel which just uses the custom DNS (but it's not actually a VPN and doesn't affect your speed)

If you have any other kind of devices just search a bit online and you'll find a way to change the DNS.

Enabled DNS over HTTPS using https://github.com/jedisct1/dnscrypt-proxy to workaround this in my mac and private dns to google in android phone

what about pc ? how do i unblock it without vpn? i use cloudflare dns but the website still isnt unblocked without using vpn
