Item: Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018

Language: en

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: This is definitely a live strictly-TV music/celebration event, not in any way, shape, or form a movie, though it's classified here on TMDb as Movie.

It's an annual event, 100% always on ABC (ever since the beginning, in 1972), with just the title getting tweaked, as necessary, each year. (I've watched the broadcast annually nearly every single year, since its beginning 46 years ago, only missing the broadcasts years when I was at a party or otherwise not home, so am personally very familiar with this show/event. It's always the most popular American t.v. New Year's Eve ring-in show.) Since the Academy Awards, etc. are classified as TV on TMDB, this is akin to those type events or the Grammy Awards, etc., that just have their year changed each year. Since something like the Academy Awards has just a single listing on TMDb, that shows the original (of decades ago) year's date, but gets added to year after year (like a new series/season of the same show), shouldn't this be done like that, annually adding to the original Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve TMDb page?:

https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/1944-dick-clark-s-new-year-s-rockin-eve

It's very confusing having different systems for different live-event shows, etc., rather than things being gone about with consistency.

By the way, Dick Clark died the other year, but Ryan Seacrest had already been hosting this for him even since before Dick Clark (who had a stroke years back that messed up his speech) died. As you'll notice looking at the link above, the seasons through 2014 were all added to that original (dating back to 1972) listing. Shouldn't also be this one? If it's because Dick Clark is no longer alive that it's not then why isn't this year's broadcast getting added to the 2015 listing (and also 2016 and 2017 getting added to that listing), rather than this being it's own entirely separate stand-alone listing? This annual event is the equivalent of a returning series. At very least I feel this should be, if not added to the original (1972) series' page, then added to whichever page is the one for the first year that Ryan Seacrest's name was added to the title.

PS: On TMDb someone indicated tonight's show to have been only 75 minutes in duration, though it actually (as always) ran from 8p.m. to 2:15a.m., so actually was a 6 hrs., 15 mins. live broadcast. Only from 11:00 to 11:30p.m. (on the East Coast) did ABC take a 30 minutes break so that individual local affiliate stations could have their usual 11p.m. news broadcasts.

Hi, it is actually not categorized as a movie, but as a video (which is the setting used for non-movie content). That said, someone would have to investigate if this is indeed something that is a better fit as part of a TV-show (like The Academy Awards) or more comparable to Victoria's Secret shows set to video in the movie section. I am undecided. thinking

Thanks for the info lineker - and Happy New Year 2018! fireworks

I noticed that all the 1972-2014 years were added to TMDb as being in the "TV" category. Since those all were seems like also since then should be.

Too, I don't understand why, post-2014, the annual broadcasts of this live event haven't been added to the 1972-2014 TMDb listing, as these last few years have been, essentially, the most recent "seasons" of that ongoing annual event, like all the prior years' events were (same like for the Academy Awards, the Grammys, etc.).

I think it's probably better fit as a TV show. The new year special is (now) split in four parts: http://abc.go.com/shows/new-years-rockin-eve/episode-guide

(Well, it's supposed to be four episodes, but the last season is not right! )

Should we delete the movie entry now?

If you do, please relocate the following discussion thread, presently attached to this show's listing as a movie, over to the new t.v. location:

Thanks relaxed

I think maybe only Travis can move discussions so I guess we have to wait.

By the way, I just now checked and noticed that 2013 and 2015 each show as not only listed as seasons under the collective 1972-2017 Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest listing, but also have individual separate additional TMDb listings:

https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/433690-new-year-s-rockin-eve-15

Thanks so much, guys, for all the great work you do! medal wave

Thanks @genplant29 ! I removed them and fixed the TV entry a little bit.

The press website has a bunch of pictures of the 2018 edition. I tried to add them to the right episodes, but some of them are likely misplaced. I couldn't find a proper schedule. worried

I asked Travis to move the discussion + this content issue report to the TV entry. smiley_cat

I just now looked at the revised (with individual years as consecutive seasons) listing and all looks great now! Thanks for getting everything squared away! trophy confetti_ball grin

Sorry to be a nuisance, but I just noticed that the regular discussion (not this Report) thread, that I started on New Year's Day early a.m. (on the page where this Report thread was located), and that a couple members subsequently added their comments, hasn't been transferred over to the page where all the seasons now are added. If that discussion thread happens to still be floating around somewhere, I'll be grateful if it can be re-posted to the following new location:

This was the link to the discussion thread in question:

Thanks so much relaxed

I asked, but it might take some time before Travis takes the time to move them.

Don't worry your discussion is alive and well: https://www.themoviedb.org/discuss/5a49eadec3a36805f600b8dc

Thanks! grin Before I posted my message immediately above, I failed to first read (other than on the other day, which I'd by now forgotten) what you'd last written, directly above it, that you've asked Travis to do the relocations. I read it right after I added the new comment, then wished I'd paid attention. stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye lol
