Question about the Cache-System

Hi, i uploaded over 2 weeks ago some new profile images for serveal actors. If i search the actors on themoviedb.com i already can see the new main-profile-image. But i have an externel programm (MediaElch) which organize my XBMC-Database. If i search with that programm the actors i see the old profile images. (I completly reinstall 2 days ago my whole System so it cant be an local cache issue on my side). Do you know why that programm is still downloading the old profile images after 2 weeks? (For e.g: the Actor: "Jude Greer" or "James Marsden".
How often will themoviedb re-cache all images so that external programms which requests images/data via the API gets the new images/information?

Hey gismo33,
This is a known limitation right now. I have an open ticket for that here. I'm hoping to find time for it this week but it might be next before I get to it.
In the meantime, the cached profile images only get cleared when the cast or crew info changes for an object.

Ok cool. If you successfully integrated that "background job" does all actor images refresh automatically? (the profile images that i changed over the last 2 weeks as well or only NEW changed profile images after the background job is integrated?)

Once complete, I'll go through and clear the cached items for a certain period (say 2 or 3 weeks). We'll try to get them cleaned up.

Hi Travis, Just wanted to ask if you make any progress with the background job for the cache images? I just stopped to report "bad" actor images for a while now because i think it make no sense to report or to upload new images until that background job works.

Indeed, auto-clearing the cache, say at shortest possible intervals, would be great. Often I modify existing crews or casts just to be able to see the new images for them which is time consuming, especially if say there are already many entries for a particular cast/crew.

A fix for this has been pushed live, into production.
When you rate or upload a new image the person gets queued to have their credits cleared. The job runs every 5 minutes so depending on when the next run is set, you should be able to see the changes reflected in their credits in up to 5 minutes (sometimes less).
