The Movie Database Support

Whenever I have to rescrape my database, I always have issues with the same 5 movies. I can sorta see why, the names are short and gets confused with other movies, but, I added in alternate titles that match exactly the file names, and they still scrape to movies that have that word in them but otherwise very different titles.

Since there are alternate titles added to match the names exactly... shouldn't it scrape those first? if I search by the alternate tile it works, and they come up first... some of the titles that get scraped instead I don't even see in the search results. I use XBMC, not sure if an issue there, here, in between, or what...

Alternates I added, were simply to stick "THE" at the end of the name. Movies are

Day, The (2011) ----> Scrapes to 'The Day He Arrives' One, The (2001) ----> Scrapes to 'One Night the Moon' Phantom, The (1996) ----> Scrapes to 'Le Coeur Fantome'' Raven, The (2012) ----> Scrapes to 'Petit Corbeau' Spirit, The (2008) ----> Scrapes to 'Spirit of the Forest'

I checked (for example) Spirit of the Forest, which is 2008 the same as The Spirit, but no alternate titles that should trump "Spirit, The (2008)".

Any idea what's going on?

No. The only exact title matching we do is with the original title. Beyond that Solr is simply trying it's best to match. However, more closely matched alternative and translated titles boost the score and should yield the result higher in the list.

The website and API use the exact same search so testing these is pretty easy.

So, I suppose I would say this is an XBMC issue. ;) Everything is working great over here.

Cool... sometimes hard to figure out what problem is where at which end. :D

One question I have is whether or not the file name is actually "Day, The (2011).xxx"? If so, try changing it to "The Day (2011).xxx".

I'm not clear on what XBMC does with the year or with the word "the". These are questions best suited for them.

Cheers.

No idea... I have a rather large database, and everything that begins with "THE", gets shuffled to the end of the title before the date is added in brackets. Even some movies with equally as short names, like The Burbs, The Cave, etc... but only these 5 seem to have issues.

Usually XBMC scrapes really well, ie. all my Fast and Furious movies are listed as Fast and Furious 1, Fast and Furious 2, Fast and Furious 3... etc... always grabs the alternate titles without any problems.

Ah well, I'll post there and see what they say. :D

Not a peep... that's why I always post here first, I usually get a response within the hour. XBMC... well, I have a few posts there from as far back as a year ago without a response. :S

I know that there are certain movies that won't scrape at all even though there is a listing for them. Prime example https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/18538-dot-the-i. Search results in 0 listings in the DB but if you try to enter the movie it will give the page. I have tried many ways of renaming the file with no results. I have a few movies that have this same issue. So what can I do.

Hi mars2122,

Dot the I is marked as an adult film, so you will have to enable showing adult items in your account profile. With regards to finding it in XBMC, since they don't support adult items in any way, you'll have to add it manually. I believe there is a way with a .nfo file that this can be done.

With adult items enabled, you can see it here: https://www.themoviedb.org/search?query=dot+the+i

Thank you Travis. I thought I had enabled adult search but I was wrong. This film shouldn't be labled adult as it is more tame than other modern movies like short bus and brown bunny. I tried to change its status but it is locked. Oh well thanks again :)

Looks like this was indeed probably marked as an adult item incorrectly. This has been changed.

Cheers.
