The Commuters is a 1915 silent film comedy directed by George Fitzmaurice and starring Irene Fenwick in her film debut. It is based on a 1910 Broadway play, The Commuters, by James Forbes. A copy of the film is saved in the Library of Congress collection.

Occupied by family problems, a 13 year old Vojto takes every responsibility around the house. One day while on a train to school, he sees this girl, Kajka, and falls madly in love with her. Despite his busy life, he decides to win her heart by any means possible.

Composed using three different formats, that have been made to co-exist: super-8, 16mm, and 35mm on a single 16mm support, clear leader. The variations in size caused the original frame lines to overlap, subjecting them - and with them their images - to a singular diabolical rhythm. The above-mentioned formats were glued together, one at a time, fragment on top of fragment, using transparent adhesive tape.

Passengers traveling to Arad for work in the early morning in a crowded train indulge in a communal nap; on the way back, they play cards, read newspapers or knit, while the time between the two jour-neys is summarised in a series of photographic portraits of the working environment.
