Barbra Streisand became the 29th recipient of the prestigious American Film Institute (AFI) Life Achievement Award in a star-studded gala tribute ceremony on February 22, 2001 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

Inside the hotel's International Ballroom, 1100 guests awaited Barbra's entrance at round tables covered with lace, roses, and a working Tiffany lamp. Each guest received a gift bag and a 96-page tribute program, featuring a black & white photo collection from Barbra's films and early years.

The Silver Clef fundraising committee was founded in 1976 by musicians and managers from across the British music industry, who wanted to honour and award music artists whilst raising funds for Nordoff Robbins. The event went on to become the annual Silver Clef Awards and Lunch, an important date in the social and business calendar of the music industry, with even members of the Royal Family attending as guests of honour. The lunch is also the flagship event in the highly respected and well-known diary of fundraising events put on by Nordoff Robbins. The Silver Clef initiative eventually expanded to the USA, where members of the music community there arranged the first American Silver Clef Award Dinner and Auction in 1989. The funds from that event benefited the Nordoff Robbins Centre for Music Therapy based at New York University. In 1990 a concert was devised to raise money for the Nordorff Robbins music therapy centre, it was held at Knebworth park on the 30th June 1990.

For the first time ever, the Museum of Pop Culture's highly-anticipated Founders Award annual fundraiser event will be free to the public, streaming online Tuesday, December 1 as MoPOP honors Seattle's own Alice in Chains. K-1 Award & MAX Korea 2009 was a kickboxing event promoted by the K-1 organization. The event was held at the Central City Millennium Hall in Seoul, South Korea, on Friday March 20, 2009. It was an eight-man elimination tournament for fighters based in South Korea and the East Asia region, with all matches fought under K-1 MAX Rules (70 kg/152 lb weight class). As well as tournament there was also a "K-1 World Youth Special Match", a women’s bout and a Superfight between Shingo Garyu and In Jin Chi. In total there were sixteen fighters, representing four countries.
