Discuss Black Mirror: Bandersnatch

Item: Black Mirror: Bandersnatch

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: This is a special episode and does not belong as a movie?

The content is already here: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/42009-black-mirror/season/0/episode/2?language=en-US? (Merge the movie entry into the episode entry?)

In this discussion, Travis says "Single one off OVA's can go in the specials section, don't create movies"?

I'm curious to see how Netflix releases it tomorrow (either as a standalone entry or packaged as part of a season). Right now, it's showing up as a standalone entry but that could change.

Regardless though, since we have Black Mirror: White Christmas as a stand alone movie, I'd say I'm probably fine to leave Bandersnatch as well.

Let's give it a few more days once it's been released to see for sure.

Bandersnatch is definitely a stand alone film and White Christmas is actually part of Season 2 on Netflix.

Does that mean that right now, assuming that Netflix releases it as a standalone entry, you're thinking the episode entry in Specials should be removed? (as well as the episode entry in Specials for Black Mirror: White Christmas?)

I was under the impression that content should only have entry as either a movie or an episode- that if content was present as both a movie and an episode on the db, a report should be made so that one of those entries are removed- based on this response I'd gotten from a mod from another content report:

"@tmdb24407783 I remove the movie from the specials. We've been deleting a lot of duplicate content, so it make sense to only have one entry for the movie."

We should probably leave the episode entry of White Christmas alone because the entry needs to be added to the series for the Netflix episode group to be complete. But that does raise the question that perhaps the movie entry of White Christmas should be removed. I'm aware that Netflix has White Christmas added as S2E4, but was that always the case? Even when it was still only on Channel 4? I'm not clear on how they positioned it at the time.

Yes, generally that's correct. It's a lot easier when it comes to a series vs. movie (for example, all the times we have deleted a miniseries that was added as a movie entry) since it primarily depends on how the content originally aired. This is why I mentioned waiting to see what Netflix does tomorrow. I assume Bandersnatch is staying as an individual entry but was that how White Christmas was also released at the time in 2014? Because now it's part of S2. shrug_tone2 They don't make it easy. If it's going to stay as a movie, then ya, the episode in season 0 should be deleted.

It's a special episode, but it was incorrect added as the sole S3 episode on the Channel 4 website. We received so many reports about that one episode that it ended up in the Bible. smile_cat

Which means the movie entry for Black Mirror: White Christmas should be removed, aye?

I believe we initially kept that one because it was subsequently released as a stand alone DVD, but the guidelines have change a bit since then. I do think it should be removed -- as long as Travis is fine with it. duck

Hey @banana_girl Ya, I'm probably ok to remove it.

Maybe we should add it to the next round of miniseries deletions and that way when I sync the ratings I can make sure it's included then. We can just make it part of the deletions that happen at that time.

Added! Thanks Travis! smiley_cat

It has been added again by another user here. This time it was added in the tv section. Please remove.

Done.

the movie has been added again here: https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/874827?language=en-US.
