Discuss Pinocchio

Growing up (as well as still to this day), I loved everything about the Jiminy Cricket character (voiced by the marvelous Cliff Edwards, aka "Ukulele Ike"). His sweet, beautiful "When You Wish Upon a Star" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pguMUFyJ3_U easily was my favourite childhood song.

This film, Jiminy, and the mentioned song are true timeless classics.

A beautiful song, unforgettable character and timeless movie.

As a child I was upset by Lampwick being transformed into a donkey. It’s hard to imagine a young Disney character being granted such a dark end today.

I need to see Pinocchio again - it’s been a long time!

This is the Disney cartoon in which the bad boys, who wind up as donkeys, first freely enjoy (if I recall correctly) smoking cigars and drinking. That's something you don't too often see kids doing in Disney cartoons anymore! wink

The song is iconic and is STILL used in Walt Disney Picture's opening theme til this day...and rightfully so!

One use of the song that still sticks out to me and hit me right in the "feels" is during the alternate version of the end credits of Close Encounters of the Third Kind! LISTEN HERE and go to 4:18 ....oooh, right in the feelys!!!!!!!!! lol

Absolutely gorgeous song, and with so much heart. The wonderful - and wonder-filled - message of optimism definitely speaks to kids of all ages, and now has for nearly 80 (can you believe it's been that long?!!) years.

I love that version used in CEofTK!
