Well, interesting twist at the end, but I'm still left with questions. Like who were those that were being fed?

Gory indeed!
Those being fed are creatures much older than humankind.
The killer, the subway driver and the cop are helping them to stay hidden and feeding them. Their "reward" for this? A pretty long life with little conversation
