Did this movie scare the crap out of anyone else when they were a kid?

It didn't really scare me but definitely affected me in a sense with its darker themes. I saw this and Secret of NIMH around the same time and they were actually good gateways for me to move into more adult-oriented territory as a kid. Might have helped as I got into the truly scary stuff later on.

Mommy Fortuna and King Haggard did to me but i dug the movie and i remember NIMH too.
